In Response to Ashley’s Note
Ashley. My dear. I think you know that I agree with you 100%.
i know how you feel ash, its frustrating thinking that what one good person thinks or does doesnt make much of a difference in the grand scheme of things.. and sometimes i get so down about it, but lately i have been reading this book by mother teresa and she has done some really amazing things in her life and so much of what she says is so simple but so true. I Like this quote by her“If you can’t feed a hundred people, then just feed one.”- even small thinks make a difference to at least one person and that one person is just as valuable as the next. and she says that we cannot do great things on this Earth, only small things with great love.. which i think is so powerful too- who am i to think that i can change the world by what i do, all i can do is love and the thing is that is enough, love changes things it really does… “Being unwanted, unloved, uncared for, forgotten by everybody, I think that is a much greater hunger, a much greater poverty than the person who has nothing to eat.”
I think it is just the way that most people think that is the issue. Most people are just worried about numero one. about me. about what affects me and no one else. I just finished reading this book about this really amazing guy named shane claiborne who is building this community that is truly based on love and equality.. and no its not some hippie commune, its in the poorest areas of Philadelphia- and him and the people in his community are there for each other, they love and they support each other not only emotionally but physically and fiscally as well. it is really such an inspiration.
i hate politics, i really do. i dont like obama or most of the things that he stands for, sure i think he’s a cool guy and a nice person but i dont think i want him running the country, but what i say or think doesnt really make any difference.. and mccain, yeah i know a lot of people hate him cause they think he is just like bush and i dont know maybe he is but i (unlike a lot of people our age) do actually think sarah palin might be an interesting change, she really has such a different perspective on things… the thing about politics is no matter who is running people are going to find/say terrible things about the, so it pretty much evens out i think..
